Derailed

Synopsis
Clive Owens is an unhappy husband in a complicated marriage. He meets a hot, interesting woman (Aniston) on a train. But before being able to consummate the relationship, they are held up in flagrante delicio and the rest of the movie is a semi-complicated web of extortion and murder.

Observations
The only thing that made this movie watchable was the seductive, charming Clive Owens (Croupier). He played desperate well. And the opening scenes were spicy without being trashy. But then the rest of the movie happened. Ah yes, of course the young black office buck has a criminal record and can help Owen's character, Charles Schine, off the extortionist. Aniston is a con woman? Shocking. Never saw it coming. Pretty much everything you could predict happening does happen. Unoriginally and tritely. And enough with the train references -- Were they trying to capture the sounds of Chicago or just constantly reminding me why they chose the title “Derailed?” I get it.

Some online reviews compare the intensity of this infidelity flick with Fatal Attraction. But in that movie Glenn Close was the villain we loved to hate. In Derailed, Aniston was the only the actress with which I was slightly annoyed.
